Japan is leading the charge in the Asia-Pacific in innovative solutions to biotech clustering. China, Taiwan, Korea, Hong Kong, Singapore, India and Australia have joined the life sciences gold rush, where estimated value is fast approaching $US40 billion a year in this region. Web-based exchange of research work between countries is just one example of speeding up solutions in emerging sectors of this industry. With clusters acknowledged as the best way to finance and support intellectual resources, specialised science research parks and precincts throughout the region are producing some outstanding examples of “bio-clusters”.
